Our harvester is just a little one, only about 345HP. Pretty common size around here though. I was going about 2.5-3.5 MPH. It amazes me everytime how much really is going through it, corn silage just flows a lot nicer than hay which makes capacity a lot higher. In Corn silage you can always use more power, but once you know the machine you can get a real good feel to maximize throughput. Earlage is a bit more variable, takes longer for material to flow through the machine because of the recutter screen. If you get a lot of whole plants that changes things too since those have to be cut a lot before they can pass through. Hydrualic deckplates are very convenient to control what goes into the chopper.
