I believe that the early Cummins engines in CIH combines were operated at a higher rpm which caused some reliability problems. Later they went back to the drawing board and slowed the Cummins/CDC engines down. I an not sure when this change occurred, but I would be looking for one of the later combines made after this fix. Here is Hoober's Axial Flow history with helps one sort out all the various changes over the years.
