This research is very exciting to me, as an outsider to organic crop production. My girlfriend's family farms organic corn and soybeans. The amont of tillage and cultivation they do to raise a crop absolutely makes me cringe. I am a definite proponent to minimum- and no-tillage so I hope a feasible system is developed for organic production.

A couple weeks back I saw an article in the Midwest Ag Journal talking about some sort of crimping tool that Randy Raper and the folks down at the USDA ARS lab at Auburn had developed. If I remember right, it was designed to be run across the field before planting, creating a "mat" of ground cover. Dick Godwin is also doing some interesting work over at Cranfield University in the UK regarding intra-plant weeding. Are you familar with either of these projects?
