The essence of technology is that the adaptation of new technology pretty much eliminates the need or usefulness of old technology. Besides, the older traits you speak of will not be bred into new genetics in the future, so you would be stuck with old genetics pretty quickly. Who would want to watch black and white TV after seeing HD? Not me.
