North Western Alberta | Last year, I just had a blend of fertilizer done up, that had all the nutrients, and 35lbs of N, and put it through the fertizer tank on the drill. I have paired row openers, so the fertilizer ends up 1" below, and 1.5" to the side of the seed. I had applied 85 lbs an acre of N down with NH3, on the canola land, and then 50lbs of N on the wheat land with NH3
So, I got 115 lbs of total N down with the Canola, and 85lbs total N down with the wheat.
My question is, does anyone go lower rates of N with the drill, and then apply it into the seed rows, so that it acts as a starter fertilizer as well? Do you think that it hurts the crop much to have to grow to the nutrients? I am debating this year, to put ALL my N down with the NH3 toolbar, and then just the soil nutrients, and say, 20lbs of N/acre of N, with the seed, on the paired row openers?
I have 12" spacing, on a 41' Flexi-coil. Just trying to decide what would be better. Any ideas? ---Bob | |
