For the "magnetic wrench trick", take a wrench and have someone push (unless you have long arms) the button to activate the solenoid, once there is current going to the solenoid, it will pull the wrench to it.....  I was reading in the service manual, and that's what it said to do to test the coil to make sure it is working.  Yes, I'm amused easily!!!
