Subject: Another 1460 header control question

SW IA

How quick does the header stop moving down when you release the switch on the 1400 series combines?  It seems like when I let off of the down button, the head continues to go down about another 12" or so.  Thought it was the switch on the hydro, but checked it with a test light, and it is not hanging up.  Also did the magnetic wrench trick with the solenoids (kind of fascinating for about 30 seconds!), don't think that the coil is bad.  Could the spool be taking its sweet time to return to the un-energized position?  I've tried a completely different header control valve, and it does the same thing.....  beginning to get frustrated....  Also seems to be worse with the corn head on.

Any input is much appreciated,

Eric
