NW Washington
You irrigated guys are probably plowing dry hard soil a foot and a half deep too. In the east and midwest plowing 7 to 10 inches deep an 85 hp should pull a 4 bottom without problems if you have decent soil moisture. Even in eastern Washington a turned up D-5 Cat or a small 4x4 will handle 10-18s in the steep Palouse Hills.
