I'm no engine mechanic so I cant help ya with number 2. As to issue number one, is your cab equiped with air ride also?? If it is you might want to check and make sure the leveling valve ( at rear center of cab) linkage hasnt become disconnected. If it has the air bags for the cab itself will 'sense' the cab is sitting to low ( even though it isnt)and will inflate to the point that they will be rock hard, causing a rough jarring ride. As for the shifter being sloppy, that may just be the nature of the beast. At 600k miles things will be a bit worn, but farm from worn out . If you push down on the shifter ( vertically) the shifter should compress a bit as there is a rubber 'bushing'to help keep things snug. If that rubber is shot things might loosen up a bit. Its a relatively simple fix for that. As long as it shifts fine I wouldnt be too concerned.
