Subject: RE: Trimble Fieldlevel II questions...

Martin, we have a number of Field Level I and Field Level II systems running here in California. All are GPS/GNSS.When you say flat, do you have no fall (main or side) in the field?? The "point to slope" mode would be a tool in FL that would allow you to creat a "spherical" shape to your fields. The "gps mode" accounts for the curvature of the earth and designs/grades based on this vs. a faceted approach like a laser.

MP is a older software that does work, but is pricey for most end users($5K+). If you understand moving dirt you will be able to use the design features. For most users MP is more than they need. If you are going to be designing roadpads, ditchpads, multiple sections with multiple slopes in one "field", importing/exporting dirt, then yes you should get MP. I assume you have access to a dealer for trimble, and there are a couple of people within that you could talk to that are knowledable on both products.

Let me know if I can help.

Hi there, does anybody here has some experience with Trimble Fieldlevel II?? I've got some questions about it. In our region all the fields are (nearly) flat. We want to get the water off the field into the ditches around it. So we don't want a flat field, but we like to have it a little bit globular (or is spherical the right word). Before we used laser equipment for doing this, but now looking into FLII.

About multiplane software, is it worth it to buy this or can we go by Fieldmanager only?? What are some functionalities that you've with multiplane and not with FMD?? And is multiplane easy to use..??

Any experience / comments / answers are really welcome!!
