Centre county Pennsylvania, USA
I'm pretty sure you can use a (low cost) computer serial cable with a null modem adapter (less than $10 bucks from radio shack) but I've never tried that. I've always used the Trimble supplied cable (Trimble part no 18532 REV C) for logging NMEA GPS and for updating EZguide (and EZSteer) firmware. I've used that cable between EZGuide and laptops, PDA's, etc with no problems (works every time). I'd try the low cost cable/null modem adapter first (can't hurt EZ or laptop), if that doesn't work spend the big bucks to get Trimble's cable.
