Kentucky | I'm with Jim on both posts. Just wanted to add one other thing -- running the header too slow may cause more ear loss from "pushing" the stalks and will definitely be harder on the header. One year here when the stalks were very green, I wasn't running the head quite fast enough and twisted the drive in two. Found out that that is common because it put's too much load on the head to run it too slow. I was running my backshaft speed the same as the previous years, but my ground speed was greater because the machine could handle more. Won't make that mistake again. Live and learn. | |
