Subject: RE: AFS2000 with EZ 250 questions..part 2

Centre county Pennsylvania, USA
GPS latitude and longitude coordinates have 3 different formats. Your EZ 250 GPS output may be set up for one of the 3 possible formats and your AFS2000 may be set up for a different coordinate format. If possible, they should be set for same GPS coordinate format, otherwise fractional degree errors may occur in mapping.

Here is an example of the same latitude recorded in those three different formats:

42°27'17" Degrees, minutes and seconds.
42°27.283' Degrees and minutes.
42.45472° Degrees and decimal degrees.

Notice that they all have the same whole number of degrees (42) but the rest (fractional degrees) may be in minutes and seconds or minutes, or decimal format. I believe EZ 250 (and EZ 500) may be set for 8 decimal places (2 more than shown in example above), 8 decimal places give fractional inch resolution and is necessary when logging coordinates from RTK systems.
