Australia
I tried to get the wheel off on my Veratile 946 but gave up(same column as Case STX, NH etc). Instead I found with the wheel telescoped all the way out you're about 1/2 inch away from fitting it, so I stuck a piece of tape about 1/2 inch wide carefully around the base of the cover and used that as a guide to cut a 1/2 inch strip off the bottom off the cover with a hacksaw. Looks very neat and the bracket fitted perfectly.

After I did it I then realised that if I had just bent the bracket up a bit, it would have fitted!! Nothing like doing things the hard way! So have a look a bending the bracket a bit first. You'll still need the wheel to be all the way out, but you won't have to modify anything.
