Subject: mounting EZ Steer on 9282 New Holland tractor

Nebraska Panhandle
I bought an EZ guide 500 and an EZ Steer to put in my 9282 New Holland 4WD tractor. Was wondering how to mount the mounting bracket on the steering column with the protective cover on it. How do you get the plastic protecter off that covers the steering column to expose the steering column ? Do you need to pull the steering wheel off to remove it or just cut it off with a knife? What about a 4430 JD tractor also. Do you pull the wheel to take off the cover to expose the steering column? Thanks
