it did just what they are intended to do. not made to rip out weeds,just made to stir the top inch or so of soil then plant in. have used one for lots of years but it has its place. just like most tools, not too many things that do every job perfect. we run a blue jet ripper in fall fallowing beans then phillips in spring and plant corn. one thing if you swap ends of the harrows it does make it more aggressive on rougher ground
