Oswald No-Till Farm Cleghorn, IA | Maximillian the Handsom Lad is my German Sheperd and Chloe is our Light Golden Retriever. Both are pure breds though Chloe has some premature cataracts which the vet optomologist at the ISU Vet College said is likely genetic. Chloe's July 4 birthday is shared with my brother. The front of the old house doesn't look the same as when this photo was taken. I put a deck on since then.
We had German Sheperds growing up on the farm. My brother now raises them. Max is a relative of my brother's dog.
The first dog my wife and I had was a "free to a good home" accidental cross of German Sheperd and Black Lab. Abby died a few years ago on Sept. 11 and her grave marker notes that she was the "Greatest Dog in the World". She loved to ride in the Jeep and be with us in general.
One thing is for sure, they are all different and you miss them when they pass on. When Abby died, I think Chloe didn't eat for a week.
