| The 310 is a little higher capacity baler than the 270 and seemed to be all around built a little heavier. We had good luck with the 310, we ran it from the early '80s till about 2000 running 10,000-15,000 bales through it per year the first several years and backing off to about 5,000 bales towards the end. We bought the 270 for a backup machine on a neighbors estate sale back in around 2000 or so for $700 and it had only baled maybe 70,000 bales since it was new. We had good luck with the NH balers but our dealer 4 miles away closed then our dealer 30 miles away closed and since the next closest dealer was 60 miles away we sold the 270, bought a Hesston 4590 and kept the 310 for a backup machine. The NH balers are good but I really think the Hesston balers are the machine to beat now and we don't have much more money in our 4590 than a comparable 310 would bring.
