That's what I've heard. The endwalls on the elipitcal tanks are heavier and designed to handle the sloshing. We've used round flat bottom tanks on a trailer for years and haven't had any problems. We also use an elipitcal tank and you can tell there is quite a bit of difference with less sloshing. I think its stupid they don't stamp the rating on the tank. How many guys use tanks they bought at an auction somewhere? How many guys get the paperwork when they buy it at an auction? I've never seen any. There needs to be a color code or a stamp or something. I live in south west Ohio and I haven't heard anything about a law about not using the round tanks on the road but it wouldn't surprise me if there is eventually. A lot of the guys around here still do it.
