Subject: RE: 3.73 for sure

Iowa
I buy everything used, so I take what there is. I have a GMC 3500 4X4 "plain Jane" std cab w auto trans and 4.10 rear. Runs like a mad ape--tons of spunk, but very seldom gets 10 mpg. Can pull 12,000 lbs 70 mph easily.

I would get an even faster rear than a 3.73 if available if not towing continuously. You can shift out of OD with either A/T or manual.

Who here thinks sub-$2.00 gas will come back??

PS I also have a 1995 F-350 w 351 and 5 spd. ans 4.10. Has always gotten about 9 mpg and doesn't have nywhere close to the spunk of the GMC--can't get into 5th if pulling a trailer.

So my limited experiance is---GM's have more spunk--enough that , when factoring in the cost of fuel, you could go to a much faster rear end and save the fuel with only a small erosion of performance.
