Blue Tech is exclusive to Mercedes diesel engines. The only Jeep to use Bluetec is the Grand Cherokee. The Liberty used a substandard economical Tier 2 engine that was a reliability nightmare with terrible economy. The 3.0l Bluetec I have in my Grand Cherokee easily gets 25-35 mpg and has 215 hp and 376 lb. ft. of torque, which is the same as the 5.7 Hemi but, you're getting 50% better fuel economy with the 3.0l diesel only costing $1,000. the ROI on that $1000 diesel upgrade will come very swiftly with its 50% improvement in fuel economy. As much as my wide drives, I've paid for two engines by now and its not even 6 mos. old. ;-)
