| Here 1400# steers have been costing just under $400 for processing. The basic charge is $0.40/# hanging weight plus a killing charge plus extra for making hamburger patties. With the value of the steer and cost of processing, beef has been averaging $3.29 per pound including everything from soup bones to tender loin. I have no idea what beef costs in the store but I do know home grown beef is better. For hogs butchering cost ranges from $150-$180 which is way more than the hog is worth. | |
