Hartsville IN | DO NOT try to carry over soybeans! The best quality seed does not carry over worth a hoot and there is precious little around of that kind this year. The royalty increase isn't going to be all that bad. If you saw Utterback on AgDay Thursday he was suggesting booking '09 inputs now anticipating increases. The way the seed corn is priced now I think it does make good sense. I think it's a good deal cheaper now than next year's will be. Trait developers and genetic suppliers are looking to make hay in '09. The seed dealer will have to have some percentage up front to cover cash flow but I'll virtually guarrantee the seed company would be willing to store it for you in their AC warehouse. Crop chemicals could be a good investment also if you can get them booked that far ahead. | |
