Pokey that picture brings back memories of my cub cadet 1000. It was the exact same tractor with the 10 horse instead of the 16. They are extremely heavy duty tractors and built just like a real farm tractor. I wanted to keep mine just for a collectable because it was so nice. Mine was a 1980 I think with the side panels. I think they called it the quiet line. I figured I was already collecting way too much stuff so I had to let it go. My buddy that bought the JD and almost flipped it with the roll cage had the 16 hp just like yours for many years. Sold it to his neighbor that is still using it. One thing you will want to do is drill the ends of the deck fastner pins where they go through the lift frame. They don't go through the frame very far and if you hit a tree or stump a little off kilter the deck will come right off the tractor! I just drilled the ends and put in a couple of quick pins in there and it never happened again.
