| Post below about welding got me wondering about pipeline welding. The oil pipeline going by here this summer was all stick welded. I'd a thought by this time they would've had some robotic wirefeed welder that would be just clamped onto the pipe and welded. But not so. Stick still better?? Or just that its all outdoor welding? All joints were x-rayed and after the second fault they (welders) were given their paycheck and sent packing, as so I was told. | |
