You are right if you are involving a vet you will not come out. I had one stay down 3 weeks and got up and I still have her. She had a pinched nerve. I would not be too quick to lift one. I would rather turn them than lift. Sometimes the time down is good for them to heal. Sometimes lifting can do as much damage as not lifting.
