Had Direcway which is now Hughes. The guy aligning the dish can make all the difference. If you are getting a decent rain, you are out of luck for service. Pricey to set up - ~$500-600. $60/month. It sure beats the crap out of the modem however.

I would say that I am pretty satisfied.
Oh, and their web based email now sucks since Hughes took it over. Just use Eudora or Outlook express and you get by much better.

I'd find someone that knows for sure how long until DSL is passing through your neighborhood. If it is 6-8 months, I'd save my $600 and wait.
