Subject: RE: I had the NRCS do a plan for me.

In our area more than a dozen have been built. Some for 3-6000 head, many for under 800. In 2002 we started on our 400 head permitted(200 cow-calf ranch) system. We didn't need a lagoon, somewhat of a 2 dike and spreader system. It has 3 fresh water diversions, 475 ft of concrete feeding pad split into 2 pens, a dirty water filter system, a drain field, 2 concrete watering pads, 2 large burms for a 100 year rain event and our cost was less than a new pick-up @ the time. Now I know concrete has gone up since. The cost share was based on 60% of actual cost. WE went and put quite a bit more into it that wasn't cost shared in windbreak etc. After using it and seeing the benefits, I'd do it all over again. 70-85% of the run-off is diverted before it gets to the pens. Good for the cattle, good for the watershed.
