| Hook another monitor to the port on the laptop and if it works its the bulb for the screen, I've had it happen several times. The only problem now is the expense of getting it fixed. I tried to do one my self and it only lasted about 8 months and then the bulb went out again. You have to be REALLY CAREFULL taking the screen apart as not to damage the screen. I'm having the same problem on another laptop again and now am debating, just buying a cheap flat screen and taking off the laptops screen. This means the laptop isn't portable anymore, but if you send in to get fixed you might as well buy another laptop.
