| Sounds like a problem with the wiring between the video card and the screen if moving the lid helps. At what point of opening the screen does it fade? Reason for asking this-if the screen looks good with the lid just barely open it confirms wiring is the suspect. If it trult is fading from the instant the lid is just barely open, I would say it could be either the screen going out, or a problem with the video card. Laptops are not easy or cheap to repair.
