Southeast Colorado
Jim, this practice is common place now in our area. It seems that just about every acre of sprinkler irrigated corn is going to strip till. Everyone waters their corn immediately after planting also to get that perfect stand and it is working really good. We've ripped the ground over a foot in the strip and turn on the sprinkler and it cures all. We still pump some nitrogen on before tassel through the sprinkler but get 75% of it on with the strip till. It seems that the deeper ripping helps hold water on the field longer which is what you want in this arid climate.
