| You might look into the laws of emblements, if any, that may be applicable in Iowa. These tennant-based rights would be applicable if you didn't have a written agreement and the landlord looked to terminate your lease before the alfalfa crop reached the end of its useful life. As an asside, I would rather have a written lease in such a situation; but, it doesn't hurt to know what the "common law" is in Iowa that would be applicable in the absence of a written agreement. | |
