Subject: Any luck in identifying 'management zones'

Is anyone having any luck in identifying different management zones within fields on your farms? The universities have published lots of tools recently like yield and soil EC mapping or chlorphyll meters. My understanding is you can go to lots of work to identify a zone only to have it change the next season. From a practical level is anyone making any of these tools work?
