Lables usually call for ammonia or house hold detergent. You could also use a comercial tank cleaner. My process is 1 full tank of water and flush boom and dump. Full tank of water with amonia or tank cleaner agitate, flush boom and leave over night. Rinse with another full tank of water and flush boom. Pull nozzles and screens before dumping last load of water. It takes time, but I have never had a screwup.
