i would second all the comments made about scc never being too low.....i have average as low as 45k for a month before...as dairyman said, if you can run that low everything else is going good too so you shouldn't have too much trouble. That said, we are a smaller farm, I see my cows each atleast twice a day as I bring them in the parlor. That is EACH and EVERY cow (parlor used to have feeders and even 2 years later after taking them out, I still have to bring almost every cow in the parlor:(...), we fore wipe, and forestrip so mostly catch any mastitis that will knock them out, rather quickly, either visually or when we start prepping. Never had much trouble but have been told that if your scc is very low, the real hot coliforms can be quickly deadly but like i said and above posts said, most herds with very low counts will catch quick enough anyway.
