Central To Everything and Close to Nothing | My take on reciever position on windrowers, and articuluated tractors for that matter is this: The further back you get from your pivot point on the vehicle the worse the performance is because in the case of a windrower, from your drive wheels back, when you steer to the right the back of your cab actually moves left and vise versa givning your ATU fits.
On JD windrowers, get the receiver bracket for that cab from your dealer and use the initial settings from stellar support which should get you going. As well, make sure you calibrate your TCM as that will affect performance. On MacDon machines, you will probably find that the intial settings from Stellar Support are too aggressive and you will need to turn them down almost by half. I measure the fore/aft from the knife which seems to make it work well. We have customers cutting silage right now with ATU's and it is working great. Some are even double swathing with it. For the most part with SF1, try your track spacing 1' less than your header and that should give you a consistent cut without any strips. Its also a good practice to get out an measure the header width too. You may also have to put in an implement offset to account for the header and/or reciever not being in the middle of your cut. Last but not least, make sure your vehicle type is set to windrower as that will also cause the rodeo you were mentioning. Good Luck!! |
