I believe silage can be cut too fine, regardless of what you're feeding. Finer cut = less effective fiber. If you are feeding some dry hay with it you may be alright. If they aren't getting enough hay or some sort of effective fiber you will have problems. By the way, how fine are we talking? 1/4"? 3/8"?
