Missouri | Interesting. Anything under #1000 kill weight would be considered a runt here. Just happen to have the results from our carcass contest. (Missouri State Fair) 27 Head, Hotel Retail Window, Top steer, 1185 live wt, 786 carc wt, 66.3 dess %, .50inch back fat, 14.3 rib eye, 3.0% KPH Fat, 2.71 USDA Yield grade, 50.69 % retail cuts, Marbling Slab20, USDA Quality Grade Prime. Then the bottom steer 1345 Live wt, 859 carc wt, 63.9 dress % , .80 inch back fat, 11.4 Rib Eye, 4% KPH Fat, 4.82 USDA Yield Grade, 43,79 % Retail cuts, Marbling Mod 40, USDA Quality Grade Choice plus. Two classes 52 total steers, Biggest Live Weight 1415# Smallest 1000# Average 1206#, Rib Eye Area Max 16.9, Min 10.8 average 13.5. Load out is difficult for adults as well as kids here also, never good to get back that empty halter. I am impressed your cattle not that much different than ours. Final product. Sorry no photo's. We often joke about the ones over #1200 maybe #1300 being in the elephant division. Have seen some #1600 steers come out of the feedlots but these would not be in competition. | |
