Subject: Hoof and hook competition steer. Pics and video link

Tamworth NSW Australia

Earlier in the year I had a steer entered in the hoof and hook competition at the Sydney Royal show. (It was April - It's taken me a while to figure out youtube).
It was part of a team of Murray Greys entered by the stud I get my bulls from. The steers were from his commercial clients and all sired by his studs' bulls. They were on feed for about 90 days and taught to lead. The pics are of the steer I supplied. First time I have been involved with cattle competition and I was really suprised to win a 5th place on the hoof. It was fascinating to get behind the scenes and to see all the work that goes into preparing and showing the steers.
After judging the steers were auctioned and then sent for processing for the carcase competition.
I have posted a link to the steer auction, hope you might find it interesting.  Price is in cents/kg liveweight. There is a small glitch at 30sec, old camera only records 30 sec at a time so had to restart it. The bloke leading is the stud owner, a very good cattle man (and he might read this lol.)
