Baldwin City, KS | We just bought an Artsway 1425 vertical mixer out of MN for 11500 put in the driveway. Will be a little while before we use it, but hopefully it will work alright. We are like you, feeding beef cows and were using an old Blair wagon for silage and piling ddg on top. I wanted to try and utilize stalks and ground hay also keeping it as cheap as possible and this is where we landed. It seemed like everytime we called on a cheaper horizontal mixer, it was either shot, didn't have a power discharge, or somebody told us that it wouldn't work so hot with ground hay if not mixing in some silage. This is about 5k higher than where I wanted to be also, but I guess we will be in the business for the foreseeable future and we can spread the investment out. | |
