New Mexico
bred cows are the P 3's ( lot of folks want Feb March calves it seems ).

Bargain cows then are the P 2's, they calf more like April May a few Junes a few in March etc.

The fall cows your selling now should really weigh up ( could dollar out close in the 900 to $1,000 range per as culls ).
Fall cows generally get Bigger over time as comped to a spring calfer.

Seems to me like your idea of getting rid of what you do not want now ( the fall calfers ) is a good idea.

Also there is such a thing as quality and ease of YOUR life.
Make your cows work for you on their time not yours.

Your likely a drouth area thus should be say an 18 month no tax period there to buy back cattle which replace cattle sold due to drouth ( your tax lady should know ).
