Killer cow prices are falling off and have been for a while now. They are what have somewhat held the cow prices up to start with because alot of good cows would bring more as killers than they would as keepers. Also feeders are not making money at the prices they are at now with corn high too and feedlots are losing on the newly bought cattle I am told. They wont do this long and fats are going to have to go up more or feeders will come down and if the feedlots stop buying they will come down. I am kind of leary on the cattle market now and dont know where it is going really. If the dollar goes up this will hurt exports too which has been our saving grace. I guess I am saying that there has been better times to sell cows than now but they could be cheaper come spring too if you can find them. Finding good cows is the problem. This has not answered your question but just some thoughts to put up there with the ones you already have. | |
