Faunsdale, AL | It will come a long way fast once it gets cleaned up down inside. Then it will probably take a very long time to completely heal, but that's a good place there in front of the shoulder, with lots of loose skin. Might want to have your vet look at closing it when it gets cleaned up. I expect they wouldn't want to, but it usually can be done if the wound is clean and cuts off a lot of time it takes for the edges of the wound to come into the middle.
If you want something cheap and somewhat effective in getting the crud off the wound faster than just the water spray. Dakin's solution is easy to make and the bleach helps remove the pus and dead tissue.
