Subject: Cows and pond water question.

Baldwin City, KS
I have a small pasture with 9 fall cows on it and a pond that I thought was getting a little muddy/unfit to drink, I thought. I moved a stock tank over there and hauled them some fresh water. It has been three days and the cows haven't touched the water. It is by a liquid feed trough and I got them over by it with the cake feeder so they know it exists. I could certainly use this tank on another pasture and would like to steal it. Even though I'm not impressed with the water in the pond, is it a fair assumption that the cows know better about what they like and I can steal the tank? Have I not given them enough time? Hate to see my cows drink crappy water, but also don't want to waste $300 on another tank if the cows won't use this one.
BTW, we are getting some rain, but not enough to run water, so I don't see the pond quality improving in the near future. Thanks.
