NC Indiana
Everything I've ever heard about sand traps/filters is they need to be shallow and easy get equipment into and out of to clean. Could make a lined waterway like channel w/ a control structure - board weir - at the end to let the waste travel down and the sand to settle out. You could pull the board to let the liquid pass out quickly when you clean it. Or I've seen them make a 3 ft deep rectangle w/ large concrete barrier block on the pit side w/ a 10:1 ramp into it to clean it out. These need cleaned regularly or you'll be hiring an excavator w/ a hammer to clean them.
