Subject: RE: Gardening Equipment

Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA,
What we've went to is raised beds, 4' x 4' or 4' x 8' 3 2" x 6" tall, need to reinforce your beds good when you build them I like a 4" x 4" in each corner lagged in the corner and screw a 2" x 6" in the middle on the longer beds. Other than it takes a bit of money to fill them up with dirt (we used some composted litter and fill dirt mixed, potting soil on top layer) it is nice, I hand till each bed with a fork after we clear out a bed, takes some work, but other than that, no more tilling till we clear out a bed and weed control is tolerable. Certainly nicer to harvest the fruits of your labor like that as well, the ground keeps getting further away and I don't get particularly enthused about staying bent over too long, or else I tend to stay bent over. I have waterlines plumbed to all the beds so all I do is turn a ball valve to water the beds. Really a slick system for what we do.
