| I'm a dairy farmer with my Bachelor's degree and I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessity to have. That said, my five years spent in college were hardly a waste of time. Sure, I had to sit through a lot of classes like Organic Chemistry that I knew I would never be using, but the foundational knowledge you get in college is easily worth the investment if you are so inclined. But let's face it, some people aren't academically inclined and if you're one of those people I wouldn't waste my time. You will absolutely need to learn under a good cow person. The dairy cow is a complicated animal and if you don't learn how to identify and react to the different things that will be thrown at you, you'll never succeed. There's a heck of a lot more to dairy cows than putting feed in front of them and milking them while they pop a calf out every year.
