Subject: RE: son of gndfarms about the dairy

Concordia, KS
I know you don't want to go to school anymore. It is expensive, it does take time away from the farm. Yes, you can farm without it. But, the thing it does do is it allows you 2 to 4 more years of 'growing up' time. Not to say that you are immature, but people can grow up and think differently between 18 and 20 or 22. I know I did. The other thing it does is it exposes you to other ideas away from what you see at home. I'm not saying that you guys are doing things wrong, but sometimes there are other methods out there that may or may not be better. It just gives you more exposure to what is out there, how things are done around the world, and helps teach you to think and communicate better. College won't necessarily teach you how to farm/dairy better but I do think it could be put to use. You only get what you put into your education. You will meet people, build a network, and give yourself a backup plan if something bad were to happen and you couldn't continue with the dairy business.

FWIW,

Kevin
