Subject: RE: Concrete House

NW Washington
Concrete is a very poor insulator against he cold. I also would guess that it cost more to build a concrete home in the US due to the cost of both labor and material. There are some home being build using Insulated Concrete Forms which are stacked together like Legos and then filled with concrete and rebar. This system makes a very tight and well insulated structure, but it cost more than building with wood. Even most brick homes in the US are actually wood homes with a brick veneer on the outside.

Wood is plentiful and cheap. And wood eating insects are not a major issue like they are in the tropics. I think there are some concrete homes in places like Florida.

This is one company that makes the insulated forms.
