No need to cut the mold off but you should wash it in water and scrub it with a brush.

Soak the ham overnight in water to reduce some of the saltyness.

Some folks don't soak them overnight but we always do.

Cook the ham in water. We always cook them very slowly. The water should just barely be boiling.

After the ham has been cooked, glaze it with a mixture of brown sugar, mustard, and pineapple. Score the ham before glazing and stick some cloves down into it.

This is the way this southerner fixes "Ole Virginia Ham"
